Kermit's Desert Cousin

No, this isn't just a photo of my shoe.  There's a teensy little desert frog in there.  He's maybe an inch long.
 
Frogs live in almost every part of the world except artic regions, and over 5,000 species of frogs have been discovered -- so far.  Scientists are constantly finding more species. Unfortunately, they are also finding that frogs are rapidly dying off. Sometimes, an entire species will disappear with very few years.
 
This little guy was well camouflaged among the pebbles, and we didn't even see him until he moved when I almost stepped on him.
